BIOGRAPHY
Waleed
Alzamil is a
Doctoral Student in Urban Planning & Environmental
Policy (UPEP),
Texas Southern University,
United States of America
since fall 2011.
He
has a Master of Community Planning (MCP)
from University of Cincinnati, United States of
America in 2010. He has M.Sc. as well as B.Sc. (Hons) in
Urban Planning from King Saud University in Saudi
Arabia. He has been an adjunct teacher at the
King Saud University for a little more than six
years. He has also been working in Community Design
Center (CDC) in the field of Affordable Housing in
Cincinnati Uptown, summer 2010.
Waleed
Alzamil is the author of one book entitled "The
Experiences of Governments in Dealing with Squatter
Settlements" published by Lambert Academic
Publishing (LAP), Germany, 2011. He is a member of several professional
organizations including American Planning
Association (APA), Urban Affairs Association (UAA),
the Urban Land Institute (ULI),
and the
International Society of City and Regional Planners
(ISOCARP).
He participated in numerous seminars and training
courses. His research interests include Housing
Issues, Affordable Housing, Land-use planning, and
regional planning. |

Informal Housing
The problem of the informal housing is one of
the problems which accompanied the concept of civilization
and it has been enlarged especially in the third world
countries and the Arabic countries, which means to establish
a house in the lands without getting permission from the
official authorities.

My vision
I believe that the informal housing one of the most
important problems facing third world countries. To solve
this problem we must think about how to solve the causes of
the problem through the interest of regional planning, to
provide housing alternatives for the poor, and to offer
increased zoning control over the city.
